What makes us tick?
The holistic cycle of wellness
While herbals remedies might seem a bit 'old school', modern science backs what our grandparents knew - plants are powerful.
Used the right way, they can help the body in its effort to heal itself and keep on track to stay well. This holistic cycle of healing and restoring balance is core to what we do.
Science + tradition
Malcolm Harker started us on our journey marrying the art of traditional herbal medicine with the science of evidenced-based herbs. He used them to heal himself and then shared his tonics with other New Zealanders struggling with health problems.
A legacy of healing
Forty years after creating his famous Deep Lung Support, it remains a favourite in health stores and pharmacies around New Zealand and continues to be one of our most popular products.
Innovation in herbal formulations
We've come a long way from Malcolm's days in his shed, weighing herbs and blending every tonic himself. Today all our products are made in a GMP certified facility in the Hawkes Bay and we send them around the world - Kiwis are great at spreading the word!
With Malcolm's passing, we are proud to continue his passion for healing, innovating new ranges formulated by a leading New Zealand herbalist. His modern approach to a traditional art opens the door for the next generation to embrace natural ingredients as the go-to for every day wellness.
Reconnecting with nature to live healthy lives
It's not long ago that nature was our first stop on the path to healing. But just a few generations after communities left the land for
the city, using plants to get well and stay well has become a mystery to many. We're here to bring you back up to speed! Tap into our
herbalist and naturopaths' expertise to reconnect with the healing powers of plants.
Malcolm Harker M.H.D 1946 - 2017
Malcolm Harker had a way with plants. His expertise in harnessing nature to enjoy a healthy life was legendary in New Zealand, especially around his home town of Waipu, where he founded Harker Herbals in 1981.
During his lifetime he became one of New Zealand’s most respected master herbalists and was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the New Zealand Natural Health Industry for his efforts to raise public awareness of the benefits of medicinal herbs.
Forty years on we’re very proud to continue Malcolm’s work, sharing the healing power of plants not only with our New Zealand fans but also with our new friends around the world.
