Oils & Ethers

• Almond (Sweet) (Amygdalus communis - Oil of the nut)Sweet Almond is an excellent all purpose emollient. An external carrier oil, for balms, creams and lotions.
• Camphor Laurel (Cinnamomum camphora (also known as Laurus camphora) - Oil of leaves and wood)A lung sedative used in chest congestion. Camphor Laurel is useful in the treatment of ills and chills and respiratory tract issues.
• Cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum - Oil of the Bark and leaf)Cinnamon is useful for respiratory tract health, weakness of digestion, and joint mobility issues.
• Eugenol (Eugenia aromaticum - The ether of Clove oil)An effective vermicide, Eugenol helps to repel fleas and lice. Eugenol has more powerful germicidal properties than the oil of clove alone. It has potent anaesthetic and soothing properties and is an excellent blood cleanser. This is the same clove-tasting ingredient that dentists use in cavity treatment.
• Menthol Oil (Mentha piperita - Menthol is derived from Peppermint oil.)Used for its cooling, refreshing affect.
• Peppermint (Mentha × piperita - Oil from the whole plant (above ground) just before flowering)Peppermint is helpful for general respiratory health. Beneficial to a range of digestive system concerns, Peppermint stimulates bile secretion of the gall bladder. It is used in Harker Herbal products for a variety of skin complaints and muscle/skeletal issues.
• Pine (Commercial) (Pinus radiata - Oil from the Pine needles)The oil from Pinus radiata used externally repels lice and is a rubefacient.
• Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens - Oil of the berry)Wintergreen is used in Harker Herbal products for muscle stiffness and to help breathing when under stress.

Herbs

• Hop flowers (Humulus lupulus - Hop strobules)Nervine (nerve strengthening), sedative, anti-septic and astringent (contracts tissues. It has a significant effect on relaxing the central nervous system, eases stress and worry, restlessness and supports sleep. Hops is also a blood tonic and weight management herb.
• Plantain (Plantago major - The leaf)Plantain is a valuable healing herb. It also acts as an antiseptic, expectorant (dissolves mucus) and vulnerary (wound healing) herb. Plantain is also an astringent (contracts tissues).

Gums

• Acacia (Acacia decurrens - A fine, off-white powder from the gum)Used for thickening and binding, Acacia provides the base for many of Malcolm products.

Seaweeds

• Carrageen (Irish Moss) (Chondrus crispus)Malcolm Harker tonics are unique in that every syrup, elixir and quintessence is created with unprocessed Carrageen seaweed syrup as a base. It gives syrup texture and provides ocean minerals and trace elements (including iodine) to each product. The bromides and halogens within seaweeds represent some of the greatest healing and nutritional elements for the human body.
